Allen Place
Urban Development (Allen Place) - Over the last several years, Allen has purchased and assembled property on the Hilltop in order to influence and impact the redevelopment of this area. Collaborating with private developers, community organizations, and government, ARI is working with strategic partners to develop and revitalize the Martin Luther King Jr. Way corridor and the Hilltop community. This collaboration will allow us to provide mixed income housing, attract new businesses to the area and preserve the cultural history of the community. ARI advocates for responsible development that will prioritize community benefits and economic development on the Hilltop while setting standards for sustainability, affordability, and design excellence.
Allen Renaissance has recently purchased the historic ValHalla Hall that is located in the center of the Martin Luther King Jr Way corridor in Tacoma, Washington. Renamed "Allen Place," this building will become a combination performing arts and technology community center that will attract local residents as well as visitors from around the city of Tacoma and the state of Washington. Working with an experienced and committed team, we are designing and renovating the three existing floors into a daytime, after-school, and weekend center that will teach and demonstrate innovative technology, drama, dance, and music targeted to engage young people that do not have regular access to high tech, performing arts venues. Partnering with others in the community, we will demonstrate the positive effects of collaborative learning.

Allen Place
ARI will redevelop this historic hall into a community performing arts and technology center, while leasing two retail anchors on the ground floor for sustainable revenue. This effort is designed to respond to the needs of a blighted community in three distinct capacities, inspiring a resurgence of commercial activity, providing a physical "destination and gathering place" in the Hilltop Community, and offering free cultural and technical education for distressed children. This will be accomplished through effective facade and interior restoration; the operation of year-round, youth-centered programs; an interactive, technology-focused Discovery Center for lifelong learning and exploration; and a performing arts center for drama, theatre, concerts, and performing arts.
